For our second session of the Groove Works jazz mentorship program in Malaysia for 2017 we're trying something different. This will have an increased weekly time commitment, but over a shorter duration. The idea is to offer advanced intermediate jazz players a more focused experience, and though performance will still be the end game, the process of preparation will be more intensive.
The course will now involve regular weekly closed-door repertoire-development sessions starting on November 18th, with a total of 10 meetings, including weekly performance workshop showcases at Backyard Pub, and cuminating in a grand final performance at the venue on the 20th of December.
We are now open for registration and audition. The currently available slots are for the following players - only 1 slot for each: Drum Kit (Bass) position filled (Piano) position filled Guitar Percussion Saxophone Trombone Trumpet Voice Other wind/string players considered.
Repertoire will be from the current global modern jazz scene, selected by course leader/coach Greg Lyons who will direct and perform with the band throughout.
Course fee is MYR1200, but we are still able offer a discount for registration of MYR1099 until 22nd September.
Places will go very fast, so get in touch soon if you want to be a part of this: firstname.lastname@example.org
